Can I dive the Zenobia?

This is dependent on your level of certification and experience, although if you dream of diving on one of the best wreck diving sites in the world or achieving the PADI Zenobia Wreck Distinctive Speciality then we will help you achieve this safely whatever your current level. To dive the Zenobia we require divers to be AOW with Nitrox Speciality. We offer Nitrox Speciality for a discounted price of €85. Please contact our team and we can advise further.

Best Dive Sites in Cyprus?

The best dive sites in Cyprus are down to personal preference, so please reach out and tell us what you enjoy and we will advise accordingly. Our Dive Centre Manager’s favourite sites include the Zenobia, Cynthiana Beach, MUSAN, Amphitheatre and Tunnels and Caves. If there is a dive site that you want to dive and it is not on the list then contact us. Ryland loves diving new sites and will help you do the same.

Are there Sharks in Cyprus?

Yes there are a number of sharks in Cyprus. Species include: Mako, Thresher, Spinner, Sandbar, Tope, Big Nosed and Angel Shark species. Sightings are rare including Blue Pointed Mako Sharks were spotted off the Zenobia in 2021 and off Limassol in 2020. These sharks are usually harmless and are in Cyprus waters only to breed and not to feed. The last recorded shark attack in Cyprus was in September 1901 so the risk of encountering such a dire situation in Cyprus’s waters is extremely low.

What is the Diving Season in Cyprus?

  • The standard diving season in Cyprus is normally May to October, however warm sea temperatures last through November and well into December. Cyprus enjoys this extended summer season due to its location at the eastern end of the med. We dive all year round, so in the colder months (December to February) we just wear a Dry or Semi Dry suit.

Winter Diving in Cyprus

Yes, diving can be conducted all year round. Winter diving in Cyprus is colder than in summer months, but visibility tends to be better . The marine life changes with octopus, squid, cuttlefish and masses of plankton moving into shallower water. Please be mindful that in the winter the water temperature is between 16C-20C. Therefore a thick wetsuit, hood or dry or semi-dry suit is advised.
